Packing For Hidden Beach Resort

Vacations are usually packed for at least a week in advance in my book. I make lists, and lists of lists, then I begin folding, rolling and packing my suitcase with such precision as to use up every nook and unused cranny in my suitcase perfectly. I’m not sure why, but I was out of character this trip. I was still excited about our trip, and I still had my lists, but maybe just not as precisely as was my norm. This time, I had the suitcases open in ready to pack position, filling space on my bedroom floor. This was completely opposite of the needed action which required my filling the suitcase. Now granted, this was a nude vacation… I mean, what do you really need to pack for this type of excursion? Well, you’d be surprised! (And according to most of the women I met while at HBR, I wasn’t alone in the shopping and massive accumulation of items for our trip). So while I continued to amass items for my ever growing heap, instead of filling the empty spaces, being efficient and packing as I went, I placed the items into what became a pile accumulating on top of my suitcase. The last couple of weeks before our scheduled departure, we continued to shop for items we needed to meet our costume nights, making sure we had enough sunscreen, picking up toiletries, etc… All of which, I promptly added to the pile.

Now after having built this mountain of clothing and accessories, Friday had finally arrived and still no order was found in the suitcases. We still had to work on this day before our trip. We arose at 5 a.m. like we always do, showered, dressed, and off to work we went. We worked our day, returned home and hoped a second wind would arise within us as we started to pull the “pile” apart. I felt a little frustrated as I attempted to gain some sort of organization with the unruly pile (for I thought my enthusiasm over our departure date having finally arrived would help give my tired mind and body that burst of energy needed to finish packing). After a long week at work I knew I would experience this exhaustion… So, why didn’t I pack like I told myself I would? Procrastination, that’s why, it is my enemy, yet I seem to give in to it more times than I care to admit. Now going back to how much was needed for a nude vacation, I did give it a thought or two as my suitcases seemed to get more and more full. Here are some of the questions that be-bopped about in my head…How many sexy negligĂ©es did I need to bring for seven days? How many wraps should I bring? Did we have the right costumes for theme nights? How much clothing should I include (because in order to use the sister hotel next door, we needed to wear clothing)? Sunscreen, bug repellent, personal toiletries....Did we really need this much, or did we even have enough? So much indecision, I think this is what I will attribute my procrastination to (an old family saying applies here, “A poor excuse is better than none”). So when we were completely finished putting everything into the suitcases (which totaled 2 large suitcases, 2 carry-ons, and my large beach bag which I use as my personal carry bag), we were relieved to find that the suitcases weighed in at just under 50 pounds (seriously, for a nude vacation?). We finally sat down to rest around midnight. This was the point (mentioned in my previous blog) when my husband stated, “I’m just worried we haven’t brought enough clothing”.

A couple hours later we were loaded into the shuttle van and off to the airport to begin our flight to Cancun. Everything went wonderfully, no delays, no complications (Thank God!). Once we arrived at the Cancun Airport, we followed the easy instructions given by our tour host, (Marilyn from The Hellion’s Group) and proceeded directly from airport customs to our pick up site with Lomas Travel. The gentleman who greeted us was so cheerful and pleasant as he asked our names and destination. As he helped us with our luggage, he said, “You sure you’re going to the right place?” We said, “Yes”, questioningly. He then laughed and said, “Well, I think you bring too much clothes!” Now that was just too funny!

Needless to say, we over-packed in a big way. We probably could have carried everything we wore (other than the costumes for theme night) in a backpack. We were not alone in this packing fop aux, many women (and men as well), said they will know better next time. Yes, as will we. And, we’ll have more room available to bring back items we purchased on our trip… We do love our shopping!

In The Beginning

When we first became social nudists in the fall of 2013, we decided this was such a wonderful lifestyle, we wanted to experience more. With our new found enthusiasm, we began researching every nude resort and option for being nude. We found we were longing for a resource that would direct us to resorts while giving us the positive perspective of each (not a slam page if you didn’t receive the service you wanted type). We wanted to hear of the excitement their trip evoked, their joy, fun, and experiences as they went to each resort. Wouldn’t it be cool we thought, if they had a reality show which would take you to a different resort each week and present this type of venue….?

We then began dreaming (in our romantic, nude-newbie way), what would be a great name for this show…? It would be so fun to have it in the “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” type of premise (my dream), so what would we call it? My mind started racing, how about “Lifestyles of the Rich and Naked”? No, we’re not rich, not every nudist is…um…how about… and the wheels began turning. Well, let me tell you, a thousand (well maybe not a thousand, but I’m Irish… we tend to exaggerate) titles popped into my head. With eagerness, I’d throw suggestions out while my husband listened, (he would smile in his patient way which I knew probably meant, lame sweetie). My sweetheart chimed in with names he thought would be great for the show. He actually came up with a pretty good one (though don’t ask me now what it was), when suddenly the inspiration kicked in and the grandest title came into mind… “Are We Bare Yet….?”

I was so proud of my creativeness, and my husband’s enthusiasm reaffirmed what I already had decided…. This was indeed, the title of all titles for a bare adventure reality show. With the exhilaration of such well-deserved satisfaction in my creative self, I started thinking of all sorts of ways we could get this show on the road (no pun intended).

I’m great at coming up with ideas, just not very good at putting them into action. My husband is the ideas put-into-action-man, he’s someone you can present with a problem or situation and say, “How can I do this?”, and he will find a way to help you make it happen. With that being said, was so very busy in his high pressure job, using those skills to support our family and thus enabling us to enjoy our new found nude lifestyle.

I must admit, I began to feel rather frustrated. Here I had this great idea yet had no idea on how to make it happen. Who could we pitch this wonderful idea to? Who could take our fantastic concept and make it happen? Now I guess I should make you aware of another provision of this great plan, we didn’t just want to let someone else take our idea and make it their own, we wanted to be the couple that went to each resort and starred in the show. After all, who wouldn’t want to live such a life, why should someone else have the delight and live the whirlwind experiences we wanted for ourselves? But what to do, what to do, we just didn’t have any definitive thought on how to proceed…..? Now I am a woman who isn’t very good at hiding my excitement over things (or disappointment either for that matter), and when I’m excited about something, I want to share it. So when we would get together with our nude friends in a social situation, inevitably I would end up sharing our wonderful plan. Well, my conspiracy minded side, began to think about what unscrupulous person might take our wonderful idea (and title) and use it before we had a chance to work out a way to put our dream into action. My husband is such a brilliant man, and I’m so, so, when it comes to creating, but when we put our heads together, it’s like magic happens. Don’t ask me the details exactly, but before I knew it, we had decided we could create a domain with our title and start writing a blog. So here we are….This is how we began. We are hoping to convey through our site all the experiences we share at each resort and in our nude adventures. Our desire is for you enjoy reading about them as much as we have experiencing them.
